ScreenNinja App Reviews
Its a decent program just would really really prefer if i had an option to have a normal screen capture mode on it. One that picks up sound so i can do tutorials and stuff would be great. Only disappointed by the timelasp and how hard it is to get into imovie for editing.
Great for artists! I cant recommend this app enough. If you need to do a time lapse of your activities on your screen, this is *exactly* what you need. The ability to hide specific apps and the icons on your desktop make it super easy to set up and record a time lapse. This has every feature you could possibly need for recording a time lapse video, and nothing else. Get it. Share your process with the world.
Its okay..
Great App! Too bad it doesnt work on Mountain Lion. I cannot use it.
I was looking for an app to do quick and easy time-lapse recordings of my screen, and this app delivers exactly that. It offers a clean, straightforward interface, with a good range of options that you can tweak if you want, but with sensible defaults, so you can dive right in, too. One extra feature that would be nice to see is a slider to reduce the output resolution. Even though that can be done via post-processing in other video-editing apps if needed, it would be handier to be able to do it directly within ScreenNinja. Overall though, I’m very happy with it!
Just what Ive been looking for!
Simple and beautiful! - just needs a prettier icon.
Just bought this app and it just doesnt work. PLEASE fix it, when i press record, it just says "preparing to record" but never actually records! PLEASE FIX GUYS! Fix and Ill give 5 Stars!
This App REALLY needs a screen capture so it can just record a full video instead of taking pictures....the pictures is nice but a full recording would be great. That would be the best of both worlds.
Also having problems
Just like others, I eternally get a "preparing to record" message instead of any actual recording. Please fix this.
Bought the app yesterday and gave it a test run during today. The resulting video is a way too exciting—Ive never thought that much stuff happens on the screen during a busy day! :) Id give 5 stars if the app had an option to not take screenshots while the screensaver is running and if it had some kind of a progress indicator while the resulting movie is exported. I had no issues that people write here in reviews about.
The first version was great, but the additional touches in this last update make some welcome improvements. I really like the addition of the pause button.
Is it possblie...
Can I record a fluid screen caputre, not snap shots, but a real video of my screen?
This program desperately needs a progress meter on the export, and how many frames per second does it export into the video? Overall so far it seems pretty good.
for those wanting a fluid screen recording open quicktime player (already installed on your mac in case you didnt already know) click "File" "new screen recording" voila perfect quality, can record sound using the built in microphone but will not record movies playing from iTunes too smart for that.
The playback of my tutorials are too fast with this product. Additonally I dont believe the timing is working. I recorded it set to once a second, but I would linger on an image for a count of five seconds (yes I counted) and when I played back it was a mere flicker, a nanosecond that I couldnt even scrub through. I had high hopes for this one because I like the way it cleans the desk top and has all these switches, but I think what is really needed is for this software to emulate what Zbrush does, basically to record when mouse or pen is making contact (or an option for this). This would create far more accurate tutorials and cut out the dead space like zbrush does, creating professional tutorials. Not quite ready for prime time, but if it gets an update for the mouse and pen down, Im on board.
This is a good program for someone maybe looking to record themsleves making a song, editing a video, or drawing art. Its good if you dont want your system bogged down because of a resource deficit, and it makes much smaller files than that of an actual video.
Better for time-lapse videos
This is better for time-lapse videos. It records in screen shots and doesnt work for videos or indivudal screen shots.
Does an amazing job at taking time-lapse videos/stills of your screen! Very simple to use, great job guys! I wish that they had dual-monitor support, but that is a minor complaint and they said they are working on it for a future update. Matthew
Hooray for indie Mac dvelopment! I was looking for a way to create a screen lapse as I work on web app mockups in Photoshop/Illustrator. The app looked promissing; I gave it a shot and it worked well to record my little 10-min test video. I searched for optimal capture rates and experimented with some settings of my own, but nothing beat the defaults. "capture every 10 sec." seems to works the best as far I can tell. I subsequently recodrded a much longer session (maybe about 4 hrs ~1,200 screen captures) and the app appeared somewhat broken (processing bar was stuck and the Stop/Record buttons got mixed up) but it created the quicktime video file just fine and restart resolved things. If youve got two displays, you are prompted to choose one to record. Works on Lion. Saves .mov files (unless you want static images). The ability to hide select apps from the recording is just amazing. Very easy to use. Great value for the money. Im a happy customer!
This is a great little application. Does exactly what it says. My only wish, and this would get the 5th star…Being able to choose which folder I want to save the singleshot pics to. For me, it is easier for me to organize pics from the beginning. Otherwise…great job!
Finally glad to have this software working again. Just ran preliminary tests with Mavericks, and the new interface and settings are incredibly easy to use, and feel way more flexible than before. This was always my favorite tool for recording time lapses while working, and it is good to have it back now. Thanks for the update! :)
